MDP: Keadilan must state who will be PM

By Hah Foong Lian

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Democratic Party yesterday urged Parti Keadilan Nasional to reveal who its prime minister would be if it wanted to be an alternative government to Barisan Nasional.

MDP pro tem deputy president Liew Ah Kim said people should know what Keadilan had in mind if the party wanted them to vote for it.

"We are talking about ruling the country. Keadilan should spell out now who it has in mind to become prime minister and a line-up of Cabinet ministers," he said yesterday.

"If Keadilan cannot reveal who it has in mind, then the people should not vote for the party," he added.

Before the electorate began to cast their vote, Liew said, there should not be such uncertainty about a line-up for an alternative government.

Liew, who is the MP for Seputih, said the people were even wondering whether the future prime minister would come from Keadilan or from the other opposition front coalition.

The other members of the coalition front are PAS, DAP and Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM).

Liew noted that the opposition front under Gagasan Rakyat during the 1990 general election had a strong line-up and stronger leaders.

Unfortunately, he said, there were only two or at the most three Keadilan leaders who were known to the public.

He said such difficulties faced by Keadilan also showed that the party was probably weak in its organisation.
