MCA confident of favourable reply MALACCA: The MCA is confident of a favourable reply from the Education Ministry to resolve education-related issues faced by the community, party president Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said. He said a party delegation led by his deputy Datuk Lim Ah Lek met Education Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently, adding "I am confident the results of the meeting will be positive."

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of Kota Melaka MCA members at Pay Fong Chinese School here on Thursday night, Dr Ling also spoke on the political developments in the country and took a swipe at DAP which he said was the most undemocratic party.

"DAP claims it opposes an Islamic state but (DAP secretary-general) Lim Kit Siang quietly met (PAS president Datuk) Fadzil Noor to support the formation of an Islamic state.

"They are playing with fire and it will eventually burn their own house," he said, adding that the Chinese community wanted stability, co-operation and unity in the country.
