States 'must control own resources'
KOTA KINABALU: The special privileges granted to Sabah and Sarawak under the Malaysia Agreement in 1963 must be safeguarded, Keadilan president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said yesterday.
"It is important that the constitutional safeguards provided to Sabah and Sarawak continue to exist," Dr Wan Azizah said at the state-level launch of the party.
She said this would mean that Sabah and Sarawak should continue to exercise more rights over immigration and its petroleum and other natural resources.
Dr Azizah said that Keadilan believes that states should control their own natural resources.
