Umno Youth slams duo for trying to freeze fund
JEMPOL: Umno Youth is disgusted with former exco members who are still trying to sabotage the wing's effort to help the poor by freezing the accounts of Yayasan Gerak Bakti.
Acting Umno Youth chief Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein said Saifudin Nasution and Johari Abdul, former trustees of the foundation by virtue of their previous positions in Umno Youth, were still trying to freeze the accounts.
"They have no consideration for the community," he said yesterday.
They were still trying to hang on to the foundation although they were no longer in Umno Youth, he added.
The foundation, he said, was started in 1983 with the objective of eradicating poverty.
Hishammuddin, now the foundation chairman, said such hassles had delayed projects for the poor.
To overcome such problems in future, he said the trustees had pre-signed letters to allow future trustees to carry out projects without such hassles.
