ULASAN

INI SATU LAGI MAKHLUK ASING YANG BALING BATU SEMBUNYI TANGAN. DIALAH YANG MAIN POLITIK KOTOR HINGGA ZAHARAH TIDAK MAMPU MENJALANKAN TUGAS DENGAN BAIK. DIALAH DURI DALAM DAGING.

NASIB BAIK SI KEPALA TAIK SOKONG DIA. KALAU TIDAK, NAMANYA LANGSUNG TIDAK AKAN KEDENGARAN LAGI.

JANGANLAH BERLAKON SEBAB RAKYAT TAHU APA YANG SEBENARNYA BERLAKU.

INI SEMUA UNTUK REBUT JAWATAN DALAM UMNO PADA TAHUN DEPAN.

Avoid factional politics, says Rafidah

By Foo Yee Ping

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz yesterday spoke her mind about the wing's affairs, saying her successor should not practise factional politics.

"To (Datuk Dr) Siti Zaharah (Sulaiman), my advice is please don't play factional politics.

"I am very sad to see what is happening. But I don't want to go into details on that. It's to be expected when things are not well co-ordinated.

"It has never happened in Wanita before," she told reporters after opening a programme for investment promotion agencies yesterday.

Dr Siti Zaharah's recent move to reshuffle the Wanita exco line-up rocked the wing, despite her reversing the decision later.

Talk surfaced about factions within the wing and there were even reports of a move to call for a no-confidence motion against her.

Rafidah, however, denied claims that there was a camp in the movement which backed her.

"There is no orang Rafidah. They don't work for me but for the party. But what is probably referred to are those who support me," she added.

Rafidah said there could be members who could not bear to see hindrances laid before her (Rafidah) when she was trying to do her work.

While she was thankful for their backing, Rafidah said no one should support any individual at the party's expense.

Asked what should be done to "heal the wounds" in the movement, she said:

"Talking about healing wounds, I would be worse (off). I've got wounds so big that would probably need surgery if I had allowed myself the luxury of wallowing in misery."

She got over her defeat as Wanita chief in 1996 by telling herself that she was still serving Umno, she said, adding: "Three years later, I'm still here, active as I've always been."
