KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (AFP) - An unidentified man driving a white car tried to ram an official government vehicle ferrying the wife of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, a report said Friday.
The Sun newspaper said the incident happened when Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, was travelling in a Mercedes Benz in the southern state of Negri Sembilan.
Quick action by members of a security team travelling in the convoy which also included Mahathir managed to force the intruding car off the road.
The man was caught and questioned but was released, the newspaper said. No reasons were given.
Mahathir is on a two-day visit to the state as part of his nationwide campaign ahead of the general elections due by next June but widely expected to be held in the next few months as the economy recovers from a recession.
