NAMPAKNYA MCA TERASA DIJERAT DENGAN STRATEGI PAKATAN ALTERNATIF.

APA SEBAB?...TENTUNYA KERANA DIA TAHU BAHAWA UNDI MELAYU TIDAK AKAN SAMPAI KE TANGANNYA SEPERTIMANA YANG BERLAKU SEKARANG.

MCA JANGAN NAK POLITIKKAN PERKARA INI KERANA MEMANG WAJAR ORANG MELAYU DICALONKAN UNTUK WAKIL KAWASAN MAJORITI ORANG MELAYU.

============================================================================================================================== MCA: Opposition pact to field Malays is racist

By Philip Golingai

PETALING JAYA: The MCA has described the opposition front's pact to field Malay candidates in all 115 Malay-majority seats in the coming election as "racist".

Party vice-president Datuk Chan Kong Choy said the opposition front comprising Parti Keadilan National, PAS, DAP and PRM was moving backwards with the agreement.

"We are moving towards the 21st century with the integration of Bangsa Malaysia but the opposition is still interested in the race of its candidates," he said yesterday.

He was commenting on Keadilan vice-chairman Mustapha Kamil Ayub's statement on Wednesday that the front had agreed in principle that all Malay-majority areas be contested by Malay candidates.

Chan said the Barisan National was not particular about the race of its candidates, adding that what was important was whether the coalition's candidates were capable.

Gerakan Youth chairman Teng Chang Yeow said that Keadilan, which claimed to be a multi-racial party, should practice what it preached and field non-Malay candidates in Malay-majority seats in the coming election.

If the party was really interested in representing all races in Malaysia, he said it should field non-Malays.

In Butterworth, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar said the Opposition parties should "keep their houses clean first" before having any dream of forming the government.

He said the Malays would not be easily hoodwinked by the Opposition's tactic of fielding Malay candidates in Malay-majority areas.

In Kota Baru, the sole non-Malay state assemblyman here hit out at the pact as being racists.

Leong Su Siang, who is Barisan Nasional state assemblyman for Kota Lama, said the opposition's decision shows "it doesn't care about other races".

"There seems to be no compromise between non-Malays and Malays in the opposition while Barisan takes care of everyone," Leong said when contacted here yesterday.
