Ezzam: Govt papers to be exposed
By Mazni Mustafa
TELUK INTAN: Parti Keadilan Nasional Youth chief Mohamad Ezzam Mohd Nor claimed that his former boss Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has kept not less than six boxes containing government documents overseas.
However, Ezzam, a former political secretary to Anwar when he was deputy prime minister, did not reveal the content or type of documents but said they "would be revealed one by one to the people soon."
He said the documents were overseas because there was no assurance of their safety if they were to be kept inside the country.
"It is true that we are keeping them (the documents) outside the country.
"And I want to tell it is not one but many, in boxes ... five to six boxes.
"Why we need to keep it outside the country? This is because there is no safe place to keep the documents here. We are not stupid to keep it here.
"When the time comes we will bring them back and we will expose everything one by one when the right time comes," he told a crowd during a ceramah organised by Pasir Salak Keadilan division in Kampung Gajah, on Wednesday night.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad had earlier stated that Anwar had taken secret government documents out of his office to further his political agenda and had conspired with foreigners to topple the Government.
Ezzam denied that such a conspiracy existed and that it was illogical to suspect Anwar of being a CIA agent.
He said if Anwar was a CIA agent, he would have not be able to visit Sudan, an Islamic country which considers the United States an enemy.
