KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Democratic Party said DAP cannot be sincere about democracy because it does not even practise it within the party.
MDP deputy information chief Kelvin Khiew said it was a "well known" fact that DAP takes disciplinary action against its members without going through the proper process.
He cited as examples former DAP leaders such as Wee Choo Keong, Liew Ak Kiew and Fung Ket Wing who were suspended on vague charges. "It is a laugh to hear Kit Siang claim that the DAP is committed to democracy," he said in a statement yesterday.
In Ipoh, former Perak DAP deputy chairman Mohamed Asri Othman accused DAP of trying to divert the people's attention from its own problems by claiming that the MDP was a fake.
Mohamed Asri, who is now the Ipoh Barat Parti Keadilan Nasional advisor, also accused the DAP of preventing its former members from joining Keadilan.
