Ting: Don't listen to rumours

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA members should not listen to rumours that certain names would be dropped in the coming general election, said party secretary-general Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh.

He said it was more important that members instead work hard to prepare for the election.

"Members should now close ranks and not listen to rumours. Spreading rumours is unhealthy and we don't want this to jeopardise unity within the party," he told reporters after attending the Grand Dharma ceremony at the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex here yesterday.

Dr Ting also said all party divisions had been instructed to immediately set up election steering committees and operation rooms for the coming election.

"The majority of the divisions have set up the committees. This is a task for every member. There isn't much time left," he said.

Party divisions were also instructed to gather relevant information regarding their respective electorate and constituencies, he said.

Dr Ting said divisions were told to intensify publicity on the party and what it had done for the people.
