Bilamana Rais mencadangkan supaya sistem pendidikan diubah kerana kononnya bangsa melayu tidak begitu berjaya maka dengan sendirinya ia bermaksud bahawa Najib tidak tahu buat kerja.

BANGI: The education system needs to be revamped if the problem of poor performance among Malay students is to be overcome, National Economic Consultative (NECC) II Restructuring of Society Committee chairman Datuk Dr Rais Yatim said yesterday.
The former Cabinet minister said problems faced by Malay students were relevant to the nation and needed to be resolved to enable them to face the challenges of the new millennium.
"The widening gap in achievement between rural students and urban students indicates that the current education system is incapable of fulfilling the needs of the country and has to be revised," he told reporters after a forum on "Critical Issues in the Education Of Malays" at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
The closed-door forum was organised by the Institute of the Malay World and Civilisation in UKM.
Dr Rais, who was one of the panellists at the forum, said the issues identified would be forwarded to the NECC II at its next meeting.
Among the issues identified include providing better incentives for trained teachers to teach in rural areas, upgrading of infrastructure in rural schools and expanding school counselling units.
Dr Rais said the NECC II was responsible for devising a new development policy to replace the National Develoment Policy expiring at the end of next year.
Other speakers on the panel included former Cabinet minister Tan Sri Ghazalie Shafie, UKM Deputy Dean of Science and Technology Faculty Prof Abdul Latif Mohamad, Mara Junior Science College principal Dr Fatanah Mohammad and PTA representative Abdul Malik Kahar.
