Opposition supporters excluded
KUALA PERLIS: The state will stop registering supporters of opposition parties under its poverty eradication programme to avoid being accused of breaking up marriages.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said yesterday he would instruct all village development and security committees to stop registering opposition members and supporters immediately.
He expressed disappointment that the state's good intention had split families of opposition party supporters.
"The exercise had also been misconstrued by such supporters as an attempt to fish for votes," he told newsmen here.
