Ulasan

Usah buang masa lah.

======================================================================================================================================================== Review decision, ulamaks told KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the National Economic Consultative Council II (NECC II) expressed disappointment with the Ulamaks Association of Malaysia for opting out of the council. Malaysian Youth Council president Saifuddin Abdullah urged the PUM to review its decision.

He said PUM was not a political-based organisation and their leaders should offer their contributions and ideas to the council.

National Fishermen Association chairman Jamal Basri said PUM should not assume that its views would not be considered anyway.

"Not all views from everyone in NECC II would be considered, but I believe that good comments would be given consideration," Jamal added.

The leaders were commenting on PUM leader Ahmad Awang's statement on Friday rejecting its membership in NECC II.

Ahmad was reported to have said that PUM's participation would not make a difference in NECC II and that the council was only a government ploy to deceive the people.

PUM was one of 155 members of the NECC II formed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Aug 4.

"If they reject this forum, which is to improve people's lives, what forum can they give their say to next," Jamal said.

Backbenchers Club chairman Ruhaine Ahmad said he believed that there was a political-based decision for PUM's decision.

"PUM could have been pressured by certain political parties to reject their membership."
