Rakyat terus diketepikan.

Kepada mereka ini, tinggalkan IPF. Masuklah mana-mana parti-parti alternatif. Begitu juga kepada PPP.

======================================================================================================================================================== IPF expresses willingness to work with MIC By A. Letchumanan KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian Progressive Front (IPF) is keen to work with the MIC to campaign for Barisan Nasional candidates in the coming general election.

Its president M.G. Pandithan said a meeting would be arranged with MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu to discuss co-operation.

"Our discussions will be on the co-operation to face the elections and has nothing to do with a merger. Once bitten is already enough," he said in an interview.

Pandithan said there were rumblings within the party over the decision to co-operate with the MIC but the members accepted the move following an explanation.

"I told the candidates they were standing on a Barisan ticket with the dacing symbol and should not be seen as representing a party.

"Our co-operation and support is to show IPF's sincerity to back Barisan and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad," he said.

The members were urged to be focused in ensuring a resounding win for Barisan, he added.

Pandithan said this was not the time to open old wounds or bring out problems.

"The Indian votes will be solidly behind Barisan if the Indian-based MIC and IPF co-operate," he said, adding that IPF would go it alone if the proposal for co-operation with the MIC failed to materialise.

Pandithan said the party had appointed its election directors in over 100 parliamentary constituencies where there were high concentrations of Indian voters.

"There are about 20,000 youth and 15,000 women who are ready to carry out house-to-house campaigning, day or night, rain or shine, without fail," he said.

Pandithan said the party's members had also been directed to stay away from opposition ceramahs so that the party would not be misconstrued as supporting the opposition.
