PBS: Aliens still on polls list KOTA KINABALU: Opposition Parti Bersatu Sabah said yesterday that there was "a lot more" to be done to clean up the electoral rolls of unqualified voters. The party's secretary-general Radin Malleh in a statement claimed that there were still "hundreds of thousands" of foreigners registered by irresponsible officials from certain political parties.

He said PBS had identified nearly 100,000 dubious voters registered in the electoral rolls.

"We hope that both the Election Commission and National Registration Department have carried out their duties and responsibilities professionally, diligently and efficiently," he said.

Radin said the problem of "phantom" voters in the rolls was more serious in Sabah where there were three types who were registered through illegal means.

He alleged that the first type of "phantom" voters were foreigners who were issued with identity cards and registered as voters while the second type were those who obtained genuine Malaysian identity cards through illegal means.

The third type were those who obtained fake identification cards or receipts with particulars of dead Malaysians still on the rolls, he added.

Radin, commenting on the commission's statement that some 560,000 phantom voters' names had been removed, said some of the foreigners had fake blue or the new credit card type ICs.

"The particulars and declarations in the ICs are false. For example, their claims of date and place of birth in Sabah are not true," he added.
