Tolong jangan kelirukan rakyat. Rakyat teramai bukan bodoh. Rakyat teramai bukan macam Si Alkataki. Kita cabar pengurusan ITM. Siapa yang sebenarnya disebalik program ini? Siapa? Siapa?

============================================================================================================================== PM to address ITM students on education for Malays

By Shahanaaz Sher Habib

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad will address a group of 12,000 ITM students and alumni today on the development of education for the Malays.

ITM deputy rector Prof Khalifah Othman said ITM students had benefited from the New Economic Policy (NEP) and Dr Mahathir in his speech was expected to touch on how they could do their part in helping future generations of students.

"ITM is the product of the Government and the NEP. A lot of people say that education is the responsibility of the Government.

"But they should also note that the Government has leaned backwards to accommodate the bumiputras.

"If the country went on the basis of meritocracy alone, a lot of ex-ITM students might not have been in the high positions they are holding now because a lot of the Malays are late bloomers," he said.

Prof Khalifah said that since 1956, some 130,000 students had graduated from ITM and "if each could give something back, this could go a long way in helping others."

ITM graduates included DRB-Hicom chairman Tan Sri Salleh Sulong, KLSE president Datuk Salleh Majid and Sabah chief minister Datuk Osu Sukam and Minister in the PM's department Datuk Dr Siti Zaharah Sulaiman.

He said people should not misconstrue Dr Mahathir's address with the ITM students and alumni as being politically motivated.

"I don't know why some people are angry and have accused us of trying to ampu (suck up to) Dr Mahathir but what we are doing is for the betterment of Malays.

"If the opposition wins the general election and becomes the new government, we will of course invite them to speak on their vision for ITM," he said.
