Party: Not all govt officers will be sacked MUAR: PAS will not sack all government officers, including the senior ranking ones, if the party and the Opposition were to form the next Government. Party president Datuk Fadzil Noor said those serving in the Government would continue as usual as they were needed to ensure the smooth running of the administration.

"We cannot simply sack or replace them just because they serve the present Government. They will be needed to ensure the country's administration.

"For top government officials, we will need them more as they have the capability and knowledge to run the departments," he said during a ceramah at Parit Kadi here on Saturday.

Fadzil said it would be ridiculous to replace Health Department directors, for example, with bomohs or other department directors with someone who had no capabilities.

He also reiterated that PAS would increase maternity leave of female government staff from 60 days to 90 with the additional 30 to be given prior to delivery to enable them to rest before giving birth.

He said for men, who had to look after their wives and their families during this time, PAS would also allow them to take longer leave of between five and 10 days.

Fadzil also criticised the Barisan Nasional Government for not utilising the petroleum and gas reserves found in the sea off Kelantan which he added were several times larger than those found off Terengganu.

"If these vast reserves of resources are developed, Kelantan, like Terengganu, will also enjoy greater wealth from the oil and gas royalties," he added.
