Opposition manifesto to focus on justice KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Nasional deputy president Dr Chandra Muzaffar yesterday said the issue of PAS Islamic state or the DAP's Malaysian Malaysia was secondary to its struggle to uphold justice in the country. Referring to concerns over PAS goal to establish an Islamic state and the DAP's concept of equality among all races, he said the Opposition pact's common manifesto would stress on injustices and the fight against oppression in the country.

"We are working towards these goals, and are optimistic of coming up with a manifesto with principles supported by the pact," he said at the party's fund-raising dinner here last night.

Dr Chandra also said Keadilan hopes the pact would agree to a common leadership and no overlapping of candidates in the general election.

In his talk at the dinner, he said Keadilan was aware that it needed to cooperate with the other Opposition parties.

"We know it is not easy to win because many people still perceive Barisan Nasional as the only one which can ensure political stability, economic recovery and racial harmony in the country," he said.

He, however, said Keadilan with supporters who are mainly youths would not lose its fight because "there had never been any battle fought by youths which has lost."
