Malaysians show their greedy side at buffet IPOH: The greedy habits of some Malaysians were manifest again at a tea reception at Mentri Besar Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib's residence here yesterday to celebrate National Day. Many half empty plates were left on the buffet table and chairs by those who could not finish their food.

There was ironically a rush for the food earlier when it was announced that tea was served. Satay was the favourite with some people grabbing handfuls of the barbequed meat and leaving none for those who came later.

Some people even brought along plastic bags for take-aways.

There was, however, enough food to go around with a good portion left on the buffet spread.

More than 1,000 people attended the reception graced by the Sultan of Perak and the Raja Permaisuri.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry parliamentary secretary Datuk Tan Chai Ho had said last Saturday that many Malaysians have a habit of wasting food.

He had said that they often buy more than they could consume.
