Dr M urged to intervene in PPP-MIC dispute

SUNGAI PETANI: The People's Progressive Party will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad tomorrow urging him to intervene in its dispute with the MIC over pinching of members.

Its national Youth chief T. Murugiah said 38 Youth leaders nationwide had a meeting here on Saturday and unanimously decided to send the memorandum.

"We do not want the MIC to continue with its allegations and mud-slinging against the PPP, which will then affect Barisan's morale and solidarity.

"We also do not want PPP members who are not Indians to be offended by statements made by the MIC," he said yesterday.

He said Dr Mahathir had advised leaders and members of Barisan Nasional component parties to set aside differences and work towards getting a two-thirds majority in the elections.

"It seems MIC has not heeded the advice of the Prime Minister," he said.
